I retired from my first career at 44 and was making well into the six figures. Decided to become a teacher to "pay back" to the community. I routinely worked 7 days a week and 10 hour days in my old career. I was a "C" level executive and set the expectations for my employees--which I paid pretty well.

standard expectation for employees? 2000 hours. That is 40 hours a week over 50 weeks of the year.

I am now in my 6th year of teaching. I routinely put in far more than 2000 hours a year even with ALL that time off. Most teachers put in more than 2000 hours during their contracted hours.

It is highly amusing to read fiction that individuals throw out there as facts.

Teaching is way harder than my old job and I make 1/10th of what I used to make.
