I think that's generally true, but there are plenty of regional law schools that
have good placement rates with decent firms in the same region. For example, if a graduate wants to end up in SLC and has no desire to leave the region, then it may not make a ton of sense to go to Vanderbilt (USNWR #17) and get in a lot of debt. Better choices would be lesser ranked BYU (#34) or Utah (#42)...and they're both cheaper.
