Developing talent and producing NFL players are two completely different things.
There isn't a huge market in the NFL for old white dudes, which is what we largely produce at BYU. You need only look at the number (or lack of) RMs from other schools to realize that BYU is as good as anyone at putting RMs in the NFL. Since our roster is largely RMs, and the non-LDS guys we do get are usually not highly recruited to begin with, we end up not putting a lot of people in the NFL. It doesn't help that we run offensive and defensive schemes that don't usually translate well to the NFL.

Developing talent, on the other hand? Algie Brown, Terren Houk, Francis Bernard, Mitchell Jeurgens, Mitch Matthews, Colby Pearson, Tejan Koroma, Kyle Johnson, Travis Tuiloma, Logan Taele, Sae Tautu, Kai Nacua, Mike Wadsworth, Micah Hanneman, and Michael Davis were all basically nobodies before coming to BYU and have formed the core of a team that is currently 4-2 against the most difficult schedule in the country. And that is just this year's team. THIS is developing talent and getting the most out of your players and Bronco does it as well as anyone in the business.
