Isn't an official communication a two-way street? If we were following the Memphis/Cinncinatt/UConn route, it would be in the B12 member institution email archives.
But we don't need to do that because
a) we've met with high ranking folks at OU, Texas, Baylor, etc in person. They have toured our facilities and seen what we are capable of. and
b) ESPN can answer many football-related questions (logistics, broadcast, scheduling) on our behalf and
c) communications don't necessarily have to originate from "BYU" per-say. It could come from a law firm or some other arms-length entity where someone would have to know the name to request.
d) it could all be verbal. No need to put it in writing yet based on the above, hence the hypothetical scenarios.
