A BYU, TCU, Utah MW wasn't horrible... but even with those three teams and a couple of okay performers each season the bowl picture stunk.

It can be argued that if they could have added Boise St. and Utah State, kicked out a couple of bottom feeder programs that the MW could have fought it's way to P5 status eventually.

But once Utah bolted that blew up everything. It wasn't going to happen.

BYU has been way better off going independent. I hate the MW. Would never want us to go back. But acknowledging that the MW sucks in no way erases the glaring flaws with independence.

Those flaws aren't going away. Realistically they really aren't all that fix-able. Long-term BYU has to get into a P5 conference situation. I applaud the job TH has done keeping us viable in the meantime.
