has been devalued. The American dream isn't to get married, have a career, and run the rat race anymore. Men want the freedom to do what they want, hop from woman to woman, and enjoy technology. Women are complying by allowing men access to marriage benefits, but without the commitment. Men can still support themselves, but they don't need to make enough to support a family. They can take a low stress job and maintain a nice quality of life. They escape the possibility of divorce that the vast majority of women file for and the possibility of losing their financial gains and access to their children. Society has steered them in the direction of living meaningless lives, because the role of protector/provider is devalued. And even if they found a woman who does value it, they don't want to deal with the potential consequences of a failed marriage when other women will give them the benefits for less.
