I think most women go into the work force not because they want to show that they don't need men, but because the men aren't stepping up and providing like they should. So the woman says fine, if you arent going to than I will.
I know many women who decided to go back to school and get an education because they weren't sure if their husbands would stick around and so they have to have a way to provide if he bales on them.
I work in a hospital. Most women I work with don't want to work. They work because they earn more than their husbands. Then after work, they go home and make dinner, clean up, and take care of the kids while their husbands watch TV.
That isn't a US trend. This is happens in other developed nations as well.
This isn't because men don't feel valued by society. It's because the men prefer to sit back and let the women do the work. It is just how men are in my opinion and that is the reason why I don't think God wants women to have the priesthood. He knows that men would take a backseat to them and let them do everything. And that isn't healthy for men or women.
Just my opinion.
