For BYU, which has not been a bastion of understanding and inclusiveness, it is
vital that we make the tent larger and embrace anybody who enjoys the BYU brand. We always need more fans. It is better to find unity through common likes than to exclude for a few dissimilarities. I am not ashamed to see BYU in any context.

I was at a home where many of the women were married to their wives. I was the only straight person with my wife. One of the women there had her BYU women's soccer shirt on. I asked her about it, and she told me she had attended a soccer camp there and became a fan. That is important that BYU becomes acceptable for groups that normally feel excluded by the culture of BYU.
