Killing Penn State football only causes more harm, and offers no actual healing. If you think killing a football team or any form of institution could or would do anything to stop the next sexual assault from happening, then you're just wildly ignorant on the subject.
Sexual assault is complex enough that rather than deluding ones self into thinking we can legislate or fine or punish our way into a rape free world, we have to simply deal with it when it happens. Punish the perps, and help the victims. And do the best we can by way of prevention based on what we know.
Scorching the earth accomplishes nothing, outside of providing the torch bearers a false sense of moral superiority. Do you think the victims want their speaking out to cause a chain reaction that kills Penn State football? Did anyone rallying for the death penalty even bother to ask them if that's what they want?
