Haws can become that point guard. He was a Fr, and will be better adjusted
to the speed of the game after a full season and a full off-season of work.

Defending the PNR is another thing. Not just WCC, but basketball has shifted towards PNR heavy offenses b/c of the pressure it places on the defense.

We have players that are athletic enough to defend, but most of this comes down to discipline.

As BYU develops a clear defensive identity, they will improve at PNR defense.

What do I mean by that? Most teams have a standard approach to defending PNR. Soft show, hard show, switch, downing or icing, zoning up, squeeze, blitz, etc. as well as specific methods for backside rotations. They'll adjust according to opponent personnel, but there is a go-to approach, which simplifies rotations allowing players to be in correct positions a higher % of the time.

BYU doesnt seem to have an identity. Sometimes soft show, sometimes they hard show (hard hedge), sometimes they go under. You need to have one identity that is a teams default, especially with a young team, as switching defenses requires high basketball IQ and experience.

A personal preference, I'd like to see BYU zone up, allowing Mika and Childs to stay in the paint longer, also simplifying weakside rotations and hopefully forcing players to shoot contest mid-range jumpers.
