We had a 4th grader and 2nd grader in the same school and the second grader was
doing 10x (probably more) the amount of homework the 4th grader was due to the fact the 4th grader had hardly any. When I asked about it, turns out there is a state test they take in 3rd grade that they feel the 2nd graders need tons of homework to prepare for it.
