RE: I didnt see much to suggest he could be an impact player, couldnt shoot 3 or
He was a good ball handler and defender. For some reason he wouldn't shoot the 3 not couldn't as in early season he hit a few. I'm wondering how much he was welcomed and how much he was shunned. My deduction is that as soon as Haws saw he had a possible rival he had a skirmish with Beo early in the season as noted on this board. It was another out of Stater that came to his rescue(Dastrup). That brings me to another anti Rose sentiment, and that is why did Daystrup get yanked so fast when I didn't see any blaring mistakes nor a 2 pt margin that the "Y" was working with. I think the Meridian kid got more minutes but also got the quick hook. He was pushed out of the paint pretty easily. I'm an ex HS coach with many years of watching BYU and in my mind I have seen a steady decline of out of state BYU ingredients. That statement wouldn't hold any water in a court review. The biggest non error by Coach Rose was the loss of the USU transfer to injury as I saw a crafty tough inside player that made a good rotation with Mika and Childs. I'm not blaming Coach Rose as much as Coach Rice who must of been the seller of wares in the Aytes story. I don't know how his injury hurt his development but it was hard to watch Aytes. Somebody deserves some credit of helping him improve, but it was too little too late. This is also the most disgruntled I have seen Dick Harmon with a BYU program in quite a while. Someone researched the coaching pedigree of BYU coaches, and it was completely lacking any out of state coaching flavor. More than enough. Most of this is already known by close followers.
