I agree with you, BYU performs extremely well outside of Men's revenue sports
So, that should be a point of pride. But, in Men's hoops and football... BYU's future identity is to be a middle-tier performer with a once-in-a-generation overperformance that can be enjoyed all the more because they shouldn't even have a chance at that.
BYU is fun to cheer for as I mentioned above because the deck is stacked against them, but they still pull through more than they should.

I don’t think BYU has ever been ranked #1 in Men’s Basketball. I’m still frustrated with the UAB game in 1987.
