I want the BigXII.

But maybe just maybe the the Church is thinking "How long do we do this? How long do we do this? What commitment do we give? What signal does this give the membership of our Church?, etc, etc, etc."

I'm not saying the Church doesn't see the enormous value in BYU Athletics, exposure, etc. BUT is there never a cost? i.e. We know BYU would never parter w/ Miami right? They don't want to be associated w/ that. Maybe not a good example, but at some point where do they draw the line?

There are a ton of people that feel this way. Not only regarding BYU Athletics, but athletics in general.
