then the program has become a joke.
You don't make it the primary objective of a football program to push heavenly concepts. That can be a secondary objective, but not the primary objective. The athletes have already made that commitment by attending BYU and fulfilling their honor code. And, there is nothing wrong with fire sides, great examples to youth and a program built on the principles of fair play and honorable young athletes. However, the primary objective should be to compete (fairly and honorably) and to build the program into an "off the chain" success. Once this stops becoming the primary objective the program becomes the fan bases secondary priority as well. Now, I like BYU being an INDY unless BYU is offered a great situation in the Big 12 (keep BYU TV, scheduling etc), but if BYU is offered these things and then turns it down because of the responsibility to step up, fund and compete then as a fan I need to re-evlauate which program I choose to spend my time, money and passion on.
If BYU views going big time as a lower priority then I will place BYU sports as a low priority. So, I am holding out hope that the post above is not true.
