Here's the honest truth...
Utah is very fortunate to be in the PAC.

We will subordinate some of our direct interests to the interests of the PAC, because the overall benefit of being in the PAC dwarves our ability to fend for ourselves.

If the PAC wants another home game for PAC-12 TV revenue, we'll do it.

We're also not in a position to take the Pat Hill approach and play any team, at any time, anywhere. (Neither is BYU, or you guys would go along with our 7 home game goal and play in RES every year. It's an absurd proposal, and since Pat Hill got canned, that philosophy didn't work for him, either.)

I certainly think there is exposure benefit from getting on ESPN2 every other year vs BYU in Provo. But if the cumulative grind of a 10 game PAC/B1G schedule, along with playing BYU yearly, lessens our chances to achieve the goals I listed, the cost-benefit analysis suggests the game may need to be foregone.

We're not USC. We'd like to get there, but we don't have the talent to steamroll through a 10 game BCS schedule AND play BYU. (That's my opinion, nothing I've heard from inside the program).
