RE: ND-USC sells tickets and ratings, is Larry stupid?
Do you really think that those tickets don't get sold and that the ratings evaporate because the game is played in September vs October and November? I'm afraid that you're wrong there. Look at LES in September last year. Were there fewer tickets sold and lower ratings because the game was in September? No. I don't know what ratings the game received, but I would bet they were potentially higher than the year before because it was on ESPN instead of the Mtn and it wasn't competing against other major rivalry games.

As far as calling out Utah for "running away" I'm sorry that Larry Scott is more concerned with the commitments to the people who are writing billions of dollars worth of checks to his conference than he is with you. I also doubt that Chris Hill and Kyle Whittingham are as concerned with offending your delicate sensibilities as they are with proceeding in a manner that they perceive as best for Utah's program.

And by the way, ESPN700 also interviewed Chris Hill yesterday and when asked about the rivalry game, he said that the had spoken with Tom Holmoe earlier in the day and without giving any details said that he hoped to be able to reach an accommodation regarding the rivalry. Sure doesn't sound like running away to me.
