Don't have to be a Ute fan to understand why to drop rivalry
1) If you're looking for a winnable game to get W's then don't play BYU. BYU is a tough game.
2) If you're trying to make as much money as possible, then don't play BYU. Other teams will bend over backwards, give you money, 2 for 1s, and lesser share of revenues. BYU won't.
3) If you're looking to play the team with the most prestige, then don't play BYU. We may have a name but can't compete with Michigan when is comes to national cache. Sorry, it's the truth.
So lay off KW. I may not play BYU either if I were in his situation. I would consider what's best for my team. I'd drop the rivalry if I could find something better for my team. I would not indulge my rival or sacrifice to do something that helped my rival more than myself. If I could play Michigan for more money, in a better venue, with more national cache, and it was a game on par with BYU as far as difficulty... then I'd drop the rivalry. Think about it! You have to be loyal to yourself before your enemy.
It's unfortunate, but right now we need Utah worse than they need us.
