Typical credit card pays your deductible and claim goes through your insurance.
Some credit cards are primary coverage.
Sometimes for a short duration rental I’ll pay it just to not hassle, especially if I think the car might be damaged. Other times I don’t and use mine plus credit card.

Just pay attention to whether your credit card coverage is primary or secondary to your personal auto coverage.
