If your insurance carrier doesn't cover it, almost all credit cards do
I've never opted for it in the U.S. or Canada. The only time I spring for the insurance is in Europe. They're apparently notorious for charging you for tiny scratches and such over there. And if something goes awry I wouldn't want to deal with foreign language contracts.

Just pay attention to whether your credit card coverage is primary or secondary to your personal auto coverage.
