One can have empathy, without experience.
I have never had a family member with Down syndrome. However I have really worked hard to remove that word from my vocabulary.
Growing up, people with Down syndrome were referred as retarded, I used that as an insult...... I know better now.
There have been plenty of times in my life were my language was corrected by others....and I appreciated it.
I disagree that it can’t make a difference....it has for me.
