I agree with this completely. The worst year and a half of my career was after the company I worked for was purchased
By a publicly traded company, who is a member of the S&P500. I was the COO and for the next year and a half, half of my time was spent working on ensuring compliance for publicly traded companies and then I still had my full time hours of running the operations of the company. Our dictates from our parent company had nothing to do with our strategic direction, but we were given directives that were short term opportunities to maximize what we could for shareholder benefit, often times at the sacrifice of our own clients. I can’t imagine what it would be like to try and do all of these things while also dealing with stock shorts on our company and having to work on ensuring proper financing for our strategic goals.
