It is not an appeal to authority is pointing out that you actually don't know

and are guessing here. You haven't been there so you don't know.

So you can either say "I didn't know it played a roll" Or you can provide facts that counter it some other source.

This was not an appeal to authority this was an attack on the very foundation that you have no actual argument.
