My son got cut from one sport where the list was posted to the team website, with a code for each player who made the team. I lost a lot of respect for the coaches for how it was handled. He has made teams in other sports where the coaches will spend a few hours (literally) with every kid who tried out, telling them which team they made, why they got cut, what they need to work on, etc. Is it a long evening/day? Yes, it is, but I will be forever grateful for these coaches who took the time to have difficult conversations with my son.
