You should never mention tragic news.
You are automatically ripping the people in the story.

Was Saturday the loudest LES has ever been? My take:

We need a decibel meter at LES

My dream is a 5 story tall column of lights visible in LES that rises with the noise level in real time (like the

Make the light quality strictly dependent on decibel levels.

Yes please. Somebody do this

Measure it in real time and it improves instantly!

What's funny is that it wasn't really very loud until Dowis complained.

I don’t know the backstory here. What happened?
Jazzyturtle
9/15/21 7:21am
It was pretty silly.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 7:25am
Yes BYU was penalized for crowd noise. Also, Dowis died while driving drunk about 5 years ago. He had a BAC of 0.233.

9/15/21 7:38am
Why do we mention that or bring that up? Seriously, what's the point?
krindorr
9/15/21 7:49am
I didn't take that as an intended insult. More of a where-are-they-now (in a sad way) thing.

That was the intent of my post. I assumed many werent aware of the circumstances surrounding his tragic, senseless death

Yes.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 9:38am
and there is nothing humorous about it.
Belboz
9/15/21 11:27am
He was the QB involved in the crowd noise incident.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 8:12am
I get that, but still... Imagine the shoe on the other foot
krindorr
9/15/21 8:26am
Yeah, but that's a hypothetical that didn't happen in this case.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 8:29am
Clearly it didn't happen; would it be OK with us if it did?
krindorr
9/15/21 8:35am
No rip ever happened.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 8:36am
So the argument you're going with is that nobody on CB ever spoke negatively of Todd Noall?
krindorr
9/15/21 8:40am
What does Todd Noall have to do with Dee Dowis? I never mentioned Todd Noall.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 8:59am
I said if we rip on Noall for things, we shouldn't do similar. You then said that there was no ripping
krindorr
9/15/21 9:51am
I don't see that it was a "rip" on Dowis.
Belboz
9/15/21 10:36am
The only person I mentioned being ripped on is Noall
krindorr
9/15/21 11:09am
Well, it's entirely different. One guy is dead.
Belboz
9/15/21 11:24am
Valid points; I may just be sensitive to it in the moment
krindorr
9/15/21 11:38am
wow...that's so sad. I didn't know that
icecougar

I remember at one point the crowd took out their keys and rattled them instead

That was common back then.

9/15/21 8:12am
As I recall the stadium just got louder and louder until the ref waved Dowis
StalwartBraveTrue
9/15/21 8:01am
I was only 14, but I remember it well. It wasn't terribly loud.
Jeffacka
9/15/21 8:13am
Wait, do you and Belboz have the same profile pic?
Mr. Rumsfield

No, we both had old ladies from different sides of the family.

I agree. Loudest sustained volume, start to finish

With music etc playing over loudspeakers, there was definitely more consistent noise than in past games. Hard to say if

That may be the most animated I've seen Lavell Edwards.
