The hard-core Utes that hated BYU, hoped that BYU would quit sports or football
or that they would be forever delegated to a lesser position and fade into irrelevance / oblivion. That is what was blown up forever last week. Utah will have stronger periods than BYU and vice versa, but there is no longer a tiered system. Utah and BYU have the same starting point and will be competing equally with their respective individual advantages. What the Utes won't acknowledge, is given the same starting point, I would take BYU's individual advantages over Utah's anyday.
