1968. Milan to Turin.
It's only a short hop (90 km). Flying aboard a DC9, in stormy weather. The flight is essentially climbing to altitude and begin an immediate descent.

The flight was so violent that the flight attendants stayed strapped in and looked as distressed as the passengers.

Air sickness bags were used by many of the passengers, which made it only worse because the plane was being tossed about.
Those of us who weren't sick were sprayed by the vomit of those who were.

The cabin reeked of vomit and urine.

After landing, the pilots came out of the cockpit joking about how much fun and challenging the flight had been.
