Not sure how it's a red flag. Is the assumption that the non binding target is

actually kind of binding? That's a serious question.

If not, I'm still not seeing the difference between a non-binding verbal bonus and a non-binding written bonus.

(I recognize I'm not adding much to the conversation. Just curious how it works and what your concern is.... seems several here thunk it's a big issue, and I trust their experience, but I can't see why...
