I follow track and cross country. American Forks coach does not recruit, however, one of the best talents in sometime didn't go to Pleasant Grove and ran at AF, though he lives in the PG boundaries. Casey Clinger, he should be one of the best runners ever at BYU before he's through with his career.
Programs attract talent. Funny story is that the AF coach called the PG coach several times about this freshman kid named Casey who kept showing up. His dad was the one who insisted he stay at AF. It's too bad because the PG coach was fairly new and he's good (just won girls state title in XC), but if you build a winning program they will come.
