Because the Utah coaches told him from the outset that they would give him a

shot at QB. And they did, for 2 years, just like they told him they would. After which they met with him and discussed his abilities and where he would fit on the team as a QB or as a safety/LB and he agreed that his best fit would be as a defender and he gladly made the change.

The only reservation I've had is moving a QB with concussion history to RB position. I was surprised.
