Nope, it was a midseason switch that was suggested by Hansen. It was kind of

crazy; the Utes were having health issues at safety, Hansen suggested the change, and then he was playing there that very week. Here's an article confirming that Hansen requested it and that it was mid-season:

The only reservation I've had is moving a QB with concussion history to RB position. I was surprised.
