BYU was way more relevent nationally in the MWC.
SOS was tougher when they were in the MWC (although that would look different today)
They finished ranked 4 times with Bronco in the MW and only once as an independent. So why is independence more meaningful?
We have ZERO access as an independent, where a team like UCF can have a great year and get rewarded.
We have the bowl same destination whether BYU were to win 12 games or 6. So conference race aside, at least there would be more intrigue to play into a better end game destination.
