The only possible alternative many want to believe is there was never an “invitation”....

then they go in to parse what an invitation truly was at the time. We all know there was interest. Interest should have been enough for the admin to move heaven and earth to get in. If someone got cold feet because they were worried about the stability of the conference they took their eyes off the ball and dealt the program a heavy blow. A blow it has yet to recover from.
