story (before anyone else) that Texas had decided not to leave for the PAC 12 and would remain in the Big 12. He was super plugged into the Texas AD and had good sources there. I think it's very possible there was truth to Chip's story. Remember that at this time everyone (including BYU I imagine) was concerned that Texas and Oklahoma would leave the Big 12 and it's possible BYU didn't want to join a sinking ship. If that is true, then it was a terrible calculation by BYU as it represents what may have been our best chance ever to join a P5. Now if it's not true, or BYU never had a legitimate chance to join, then we can put away the pitchforks. The back story to this scenario is one that I'm dying to hear at some point in the future.
