There was a lot of noise that Mangum didn't push himself last Fall because he was the acknowledged starter and by holding off on naming him the starter this keeps the fire on him to keep striving instead of coasting. If the rumors are accurate it doesn't speak well of Mangum last season, but would make sense why they would hold off on naming him the starter even if he's playing well enough to be the safe bet.

The most telling thing I read about the Fall Practice has been the recurring statement that Mangum looked good in Fall Camp the last 3 years and two out of the three he played terribly in games. How do the coaching staff know that this is going to be the different than the last two years?? I am glad that Kalani is getting those big checks to make this choice, not me.
