Logic tells you that you want to start your experienced, talented, senior QB. For whatever reason, Tanner hasn't won them over. Of course Wilson has something to do with that.

But something has changed with Tanner since his freshman season. I don't think he is quite the same person or maybe the situation is different as well. I just don't get the vibe that he is leading the offense like they want or has that win no matter instinct in him. He's a great player, but they want more out of him

Wilson due to his own ability and to keep Tanner on his toes is deliberately being given a huge shot at being the starter as well. I know less about Wilson and his personal competitiveness and leadership.
