You're way over thinking this. The easiest is to realize that it's the same
question as if asking if two people started on a trail at the same time, one on one end, the other on the other end. Will they ever be in the same spot at the same time?

The easy and obvious answer is yes. They will cross paths, which means they will be in the same spot at the same time. One can walk 5 mph, the other can walk just 1. There is still a guaranteed point on the trail where they will cross, meaning they will have reached the exact same spot at the exact same time.


He threw some details at you to confuse you. Starting and ending times don't matter. The only thing that matters is starting on opposite ends going opposite directions. So long as there was a time during the day that both were on the trail, it is guaranteed that the paths crossed.
