"lose the majority of games early on"
you frequently cherry pick your facts to frame your narrative but totally ignore and refuse to recognize any accomplishment in branding him a failure or a bad coach. As bad as his worst season was, his best season was pretty close to being on the opposite end of that spectrum (8 pts away from perfect). Prior to this past season the only data you had to measure his performance was either great or horrid so to pick horrid required you to ignore an entire season of nearly perfect.

If you are an administrator of people (ie, a sales team for example) and your management style is to ignore your people's significant accomplishments while waiting for the moment when they fail or have a bad year so you can pounce and fire them I don't know that you'll ever develop the sales team to reach it's full potential and instead will always be hiring and firing. That is certainly one way to manage things but I think the potential for success is greater if your sales manager and sales team don't feel like they have to look over their shoulder every second worried they might make a mistake and lose their job. That kind of pressure definitely flows downhill and you get out of people what you put into them.

Did Kalani "lose the majority of games early on"? He went 9-4 then 4-9. Doesn't seem like he lost a majority of his games early on. it's definitely too early to say there's any kind of trend. He followed those 2 seasons with a 7-6 season. Are we starting now to see a trend? I think if you're objective it's probably still a little early to say it's a definite pattern but it is starting to trend in the right direction. This coming season will reveal a little more. He's just getting close to the point where most of the players in the depth chart are his own recruits. When Bronco reached that point in 2010 we began to see the real Bronco. I think once we see Kalani coaching all of his own recruits we'll see the real Kalani.
