1. Look at the history of the CWS. It is all PAC12 (18 titles with Oregon State as the 2018 champion) and SEC (11 titles with Arkansas as the 2018 runner up.)

The WCC has a single title (Pepperdine in 92’) and is tied at 1 title with the BSC and MVC. (These are basically community college conferences.)

I would rather play in the big boys conference, play the top teams in the country every season, then lose than play in the childrens conference and win. Cougs took it in 2017 and now in 2019.

2. SEC country has no idea that baseball exists in the state of Utah until they realize that Utah is in the PAC12 and then they say “oh yeah, Utah.” With that said there is also a bit of “Oh yeah, BYU”

3. I’m looking at the polls and not seeing BYU actually ranked anywhere. Yes they broke the top 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll at one point but they are no longer ranked there.

We should also note that when it comes to baseball, the USA Today polls are worthless and mean nothing. Cool that we made their top 25 but nothing to brag about.

4/5. We beat them by 7 and they beat us by 2. Great! If you truly understand the game of baseball then you should also understand that this in no way guarantees us a win in a rematch.

I’m not saying the Cougs should sit down but you probably should. I appreciate your enthusiasm but at the same time it is a bit embarrassing.

In conclusion I graduated from an SEC school and have quite a few friends and contacts throughout the region...want the report...sure they saw that BYU was ranked at one point. But the only reason they noticed was because they knew I am a fan and it gave them a reason to call/text and talk trash about it. Other than that it may as well have been the Salt Lake Community College being ranked.

In 2019 do I believe that BYU is the better baseball team in the State? Absolutely! Let’s get excited that the Cougs won the conference, have a shot at the WCC tourney and will at least make it to the first round of regionals. Let’s also get our hopes up that a miracle could happen and they work their way to/through Omaha!
