I don't have an expectation that BYU will land an elite coach. I simply disagree with the narrative that "in this day and age in college football, the only way BYU can win is if the BOT make sweeping changes". I'm just saying that a top tier coach could win here.
Also, we could farm our own coaches. I'm not saying we need Andy Reid or Urban Meyer. Ty Detmer could have been it (turns out he wasn't), or Kalani could have been it (this is the year to take that step IMO). Bronco was almost it. He's a top tier coach in terms of building a program and he's an elite DC. He was an above average recruiter at times, but he had some big flaws as a CEO and head coach while he was here.
I feel good about Kalani right now, but another average season makes me wonder why all the patience when there are a handful of there guys with his same resume out there that would love the opportunity.
