...but you can't just throw out the names Nick Saban and Urban Meyer in the same sentence as BYU football coach. That's unrealistic. I think it's important to strive for excellence and it starts with the head coach, but fans need to be realistic and realize that the Lavell era was a very different landscape than the one we're in now.

Going to a bowl game nearly every year and finishing in the top 25 every few years may seem like I'm lowering my expectations for the program, but I think it's just more realistic in the current environment. This is a different topic, but Utah getting a P12 invite hurts BYU way more than any fan would like to admit. Unless BYU gets a P5 invite, we'll continue to be in a tough position for many years to come.
