About point 1, I think this will be a very difficult thing for P5 teams to schedule BYU late in their season, as those teams will be playing in P5 conference games. Possibly being more strategic with lower tier P5 teams might work but schedule them over G5 teams any day of the week.
Point 2. That is the current arrangement with ESPN and this new contract. 2019 bowl game is from the previous years contract, but like Tom Holmoe mentioned, there are nuances with ESPN and bowl games. P5 teams rule the bowl game match up.
Winning against this schedule will go a long way showcasing the BYU brand and their traveling fans, which is strong nationwide. ESPN is impressed or will be impressed seeing BYU at Tenn as well as UMASS, USF games.
