It has nothing to do with the image of UCONN Or their relevance. If BYU can make the same money and still schedule some big name teams OOC I see a huge advantage.

1) Playing for a championship each year. The opportunity to play teams like UCF, USF, Cincy, Temple (all ranked last year) and Memphis, Army and SMU weekly will showcase our defense and offense greatly. We would have the best defense from day one. It would be like TCU in the MWC. Playing for championships and NY6 births would be a yearly goal and expectation! Enticing in future p6 expansion talk.

2) NY6 bowl birth. The top ranked G5 team has a spot in the NY6. BYU can be that every year. We have a better brand than Boise and would be ranked way higher if we were to have the same record. UCF would be in our conference so we beat them in the championship game and we’re in the NY6.

3) Recruiting. I’m no recruiting guru in the slightest but being champions of something makes your school enticing and attractive. Recruiting against UCF and USF in Florida as well as SMU and Temple in Texas would be great for our talent and speed as a team. BYU right now has a dream of beating 4 P5 teams in a row and then 2 top G5 schools and make it to a NY6. It’s tough to accomplish that. If not this year it’ll be even harder in 2020 and 2021 with these schedules we have.

4) Relevance. BYU can hang 40 on any and every AAC team EVERY week. BYU can go undefeated in conference play. They would be ranked weekly if that’s the case as seen in weeks 7 and 8 where UCF, USF and Cincy were all ranked and 6-0 despite poor schedules. Again, BYU has a much bigger and respected brand than any other G5 and when they get winning, they get respect.

IF the money is there and if we still get TV exposure, i say we do it 100%
