Schools without fan bases don't help conferences long term
Tulsa is a decent football program, but it is a tiny school with a small fan base. Tulane is irrelevant in the New Orleans market, just like San Jose State in the Bay Area. With that brand new stadium they averaged 20k. Being in a market means very little if you don't have any market share. Meanwhile ECU average 45k+ in attendance, despite being subpar on the field right now.
