I kinda explained it in my post. If USU goes undefeated nothing much happens.

If Utah goes undefeated in their regular season I believe they will lose in their conference championship. If we go undefeated (hypothetically, of course) then we would be a non-Notre Dame independent in the conversation about being in the playoffs, thus leaving out at least 2 power 5 conferences , instead of potentially just 1 from the playoff.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it will for sure happen, but my point is just that a special season from either USU or even Utah just isn’t as...well...special as a special season from BYU.
