Consider: 2012 - Nelson injured against Weber State. 2013 - Hill injured
against Utah State. 2014 - Hill injured against Utah State. 2015 - Hill injured against Nebraska (non-contact, exacerbated by previous injuries from Utah State). 2016 - Hill injured against Utah State. 2017 - Hoge injured against Utah State.
That is six straight years of the last seven with the starting BYU QB severely injured if not taken out for the season; four of them (and a fifth indirectly) by USU, and the remaining one by another in-state school. In my opinion, all but one of these (2016) likely had significant negative consequences on BYU's final standings.
I therefore conclude that a USU fan is probably the last person who should be commenting on BYU's sub-par performance the past few years.
