The time commitment to college athletics is unbelievable

probably figured he has 1 more year to make something happening with his schooling (developing life skills, finding employment, etc) before that clock expired.

I tried out for the XC team at BYU but missed the cut by about 15 seconds. For cross country, they were asking for about 25-35 hours a week time commitment, as a walk on. Can't imagine what that would be for sports like Bball and Football.
