i'm not denying he hasn't had non basketball issues that would make someone feel
like walking away from the big time commitment it probably takes to playing basketball at BYU. If thats his reason... i get it. If it its for basketball reasons like not wanting to play for a new coach, or thinking the new coach isn't going to play him, or not getting a long with the team, or feeling threatened by new players or transfers...i get those reasons too. But honestly if his reason is the one you provided...that he has a 5 year old kid... I don't get that. Maybe if the kid had health issues and needed extra time and care and attention. But if its a normal healthy kid...you make him watch you play basketball at BYU for one more year and watch your dad overcome adversity and become a hero. He had that chance. I would have found it heroic if he came back and played like he did as a freshman. I know he has it in him because i've seen it before. I wanted to see it again. I'm not going to apologize for wishing he came back for his senior year. He did have the chance to right some wrongs. You can easily make the case he harmed the program with the evidence he has left us... the punches, the suspensions, the scandals, the poor product on the floor, the exit of a legendary coach, the relationship with the rivals, the reputation...I was ready to forgive all of that if he came back and gave it his all for one last year. But now that he is walking away...he kind of ruined that chance i was ready to give him as a fan. Just being honest.
