and this whole there's more to life than basketball talk... I think thats
what quitters say. I've said that myself when i failed at something and moved on. A good friend called me out on it once and I'm grateful. The message he gave me was along the lines of...when you are playing basketball, during those exact moments that you are on the court, that is the most important thing at that moment to give your all to becoming as good as you can at basketball. If you are badly distracted and thinking other thoughts while you are playing basketball and wishing the whole time you were somewhere else without your heart being in it you aren't going to achieve the same potential. I remember seeing someone trying really hard to get better and rationalizing to myself i'm not going to spend that much effort because "theres more to life than basketball" so i'm going to take it easy here. There is nothing more important than basketball when you are playing basketball, because you are giving it your full love and attention. Now when you walk off the court...then you give your maximum love and potential to you family and your friends and your church and you let basketball sit. You have to give your full passion to each thing you do while you are doing it.

Nick can do whatever he wants and if basketball doesn't align with his goals in life right now then he is doing the right thing. But I just think he should finish what he started if he is physically and mentally able to. If hes not...then fine. But it IS possible for these athletes to make the wrong decision. He could be making the wrong decision. I dont know for sure if its the wrong decision. But looking at it from my vantage point being older...I think he should have stuck it out one more year. He had already come this far. Finish the dang job...then move on.
