And then it’s possible to break into the playoff if a program keeps it going. The comparison is the BCS, once Utah, Boise state, TCU, and others continued to gain relevance in the discussion for inclusion, they kept going back and it broke the system to what we have today. The NY6 games are the goal for every program, and if you happen to run the table the playoff isn’t out of the question even if you aren’t in a P5 conference. It just will take years like the BCS took years to break through

I don't think he was declining. There was a natural adjustment to our W-L record due to increased P5 scheduling
